Tullia Dymarz is one Mathematican that comes to mind when thinking about merging the creative with the analytical. Currently a Professor of Mathematics in Paris, not only is she a leading female in a very male dominant field, but she pays about a dozen instruments, is an amazing writer, and poet and oozes creativity when she enters the room. Individuals such as herself are living testaments for need need of creative and holistic approaches into Math Education in Canada and beyond. 


The Institute for Figuring
The Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef Project is one of the highlights of this institute. The mandate is to bring art, sustainability, ecology and women's craft together to promote awareness. Thousands have joined in crocheting these amazing replicas of reefs, and an exhibition was put together at the Any Warhol Gallery. Shanna from New City School in St. Louise high lighed how she integrated this project at her school on her extraordinary blog, New City Arts . Below is a sample of some of the reefs.
